In case you didn’t notice, YouTube has just introduced a new commenting system. I’ve watched several videos so far – some people like the change and others emphatically hate it. What’s your take on the matter?
We all know that the previous YouTube commenting system was definitely “old school” and needed an upgrade, but I’m not so sure that the latest changes are for the better.
Google has created a commenting system that requires you to login to your Google Plus profile before you can leave a comment on a YouTube channel.
This means YouTube comments also show on a Google Plus profile page. As long as the comment is worthy enough to read, it should work out fine.
This could increase the conversation you have with people who watch your videos. Sounds like a good deal to me, as long as people don’t abuse the system!
On the flip side, there’s an increase in vulgarity being left inside comments, growing spam, and some people are linking to porn and virus websites. Hello Google – are you watching and taking notes?
I like the idea that your YouTube comments are integrated with a social media platform (i.e. Google Plus), but I don’t care for the idea that someone can go to my YouTube channel and post Nazi signs or pictures of a penis by using ASCII characters.
That’s pretty disgusting, and definitely warrants Google to pay attention. The people who are participating in these acts need to grow up. Be constructive with your life and stop wandering aimlessly around the Net looking to cause grief.
Here’s what one disgruntled user thinks about the upgrade…
