I recently read a blog post from Misty Spears who shares how productive she can be when she participates in challenges. I understand where she’s coming from because I love challenges, too!
She talks about sticking to a commitment, but in my case – I join challenges for the accountability and ability to network with the other participants. You can meet some nifty people through these events and I encourage you to join them.
Challenges Provide Support
I join challenges for a specific reason and it’s a good idea for you to know what your reasons might be so you can gain the most benefit. With that said, let me introduce some of the challenges I’ve joined so you can decide if they’ll work for you.
30-Day Vlogging Challenge – When I wanted to get over my fear of sitting in front of a video camera, I joined Tiffany Lambert’s vlogging challenge. The requirements: create one video per day for an entire 30 days.
Mind you, I was working online for 22 years before I actually subjected myself to a challenge of this caliber because I wasn’t happy with my appearance. In the end, the challenge was a blessing because of the support I received from Tiffany and the other budding video bloggers.
Ultimate Blog Challenge – When I decided it was time to start blogging on a daily basis to build traffic, I joined Michelle Shaeffer’s Ultimate Blogging Challenge. The requirements: create one blog post per day for the entire 30 days. I found some wonderful people and blogs through this challenge.
30-Day Article Writing Challenge – When I needed to add more PLR packages to my PLR store, I joined an article writing challenge. The requirements: post/write one article per day during the month of September.
As a side benefit, I found new blogs for schmoozing on and people I’d love to get to know better. Equally refreshing is witnessing all the talented writers who visit the forum.
Why Do Challenges?
You need not worry if money is an issue because there are plenty of free monthly challenges offered to the public. Unless you lack the time, there’s nothing to prevent you from participating.
The next time you need a little productivity push or a swift kick in the pants because you turned into an Internet slacker, consider jumping aboard a challenge to gain the accountability you need to move forward.
You’ll create the necessary content to fuel your business, meet wonderful people who engage and possibly find a future partner who can help you bust out of the 9-to-5 rat race.
How often do you participate in challenges or how many have you joined this month? Leave a comment below and let me know!
Thanks for reading,
