As you know, women (and some men) are the greatest talkers. In all fairness, women have been exchanging recipes and gossip over the back fence for many decades.
Naturally it makes perfect sense for us to actively participate on discussion boards, Facebook groups, and blogs where there is the possibility to strike up a conversation.
When I think back to the many websites I operated over the years, it seems, building community was always the end result. The cool thing about it is that I didn’t need to hire forum moderators because I had guys and gals who were conversationalists wanting to help others and freely sharing their time to do so.
What made the discussion group so popular was the speed at which questions were answered; usually within 24 hours. That’s because each moderator shared the same vision I did, which essentially boiled down to wanting to create valuable online relationships in the quickest time possible.
Interaction Enriches the Lives of Many
Truthfully, this turned out to be the backbone of the discussion forum – all through the power of schmoozing (or networking if you prefer), which resulted in building a tight-knit community. A nurturing ground where minds could feed and blossom into an entrepreneurial spirit.
The truth is you don’t need to run a popular discussion board to build valuable relations. In today’s online world, there are many opportunities to reach out and connect with others. Perhaps, the only ingredient lacking in this recipe for success is your participation?
You Must Participate to Benefit
What if you could find answers to your problems within the same circle at any given time, would you continue to participate? I would think so because you’re constantly introduced to new people and building rapport through frequent exchange with one another.
In this respect, any social gathering place is prime real estate for chatty individuals. As you make an appearance and share your insights, you’ll become aware of other frequent members. Since exchange is strongly encouraged, these watering holes become the mainstay of many popular (and shared) discussions.
Through ongoing participation, a social network will churn and evolve into a countless avenue of helpful advice. New friendships and partnerships will form. Additional traffic flowing to and from your web properties is inevitable.
Unfortunately, unless you’re prepared to step up to the plate and make yourself known, it becomes impossible for you to gain the kind of positive results that schmoozing offers, such as stability and business growth.
However, if you’re willing to help others, openly and willingly, you will find the expertise and strengths that you lack – enabling you to move forward. I trust you understand that moving forward in your business is never a bad thing?
Just as a cooking stew needs potatoes, rice, carrots, meat, and the right amount of spices for a tasty recipe, a successful business needs the right ingredients to make it cook hot with new opportunities.
As a practitioner, I believe networking is the most important factor in attracting leads. In fact, it is one of the best ways to turn countless hours of online marketing, research, and camaraderie into a sustainable money stream; and schmoozing is certainly something both women and men can do!
So, here’s your chance to start schmoozing! Comment below and let me know how often you take the initiative to interact with others and how it has helped your business.
