What brings this thought to mind? As luck would have it, we’ve been suffering a rush of heat the last couple of days here in central Michigan.
Just when you think you can plug another gadget into the socket… poof! The lights go out.
No Electrical Power
Yes, I’ve been without electrical power for the last two days. The only “good thing” is it forced me to keep busy doing something else that didn’t involve an electrical gadget of some kind – like reading while there was still light coming into the room.
I’ll admit it wasn’t easy. I didn’t suffer from computer withdrawals like I believed I would if this would happen. I knew I could get by without logging onto the Internet and checking email. These last two days prove it.
What did bother me was the fact that there was no hot water, no fan to turn on to cool off with and no way to heat any food on the stove.
The refrigerator couldn’t be opened – we had to keep the cool air inside. And, you can only read a book during the daytime when there is ample light. Reading by the glow of a flashlight really isn’t an option for a person with one good eye.
Sleeping was a total nightmare without the air conditioner or at least a fan! I jumped out of bed every hour or so to wet my head under the sink or to splash my body using a soaked cloth.
I tried to make it seem as if I was camping, but that didn’t make the experience bearable. Truth is, I would’ve preferred camping over this! ROFL
Not much else to tell except that’s why I’ve been quiet and no blog posts were made. As soon as the electricity is turned back on (they need to find the problem first), I’ll be back online in full swing!
