How to Forward a Hosting Account E-mail to G-mail

Somebody recently asked how to forward her email from a hosting account to a Gmail account so today I created a video to show you how to get this done.

I included text below if you don’t care for video.

Watch the Video:

First, login to the CPANEL of your hosting account.

Step 1: Locate the Mail Section

  • Click on Email Accounts under the Mail section.
  • Take note of the default email account you wish to forward
  • Highlight the name of the email account and hit CTRL+C to copy it to the clipboard./li>

Then, click the Home link at the top of the menu bar.

Step 2: Add a Forwarder

  • Click the Forwarders link under the Mail section.
  • Click the “Add Forwarder” button.
  • Paste the name of the e-mail (CTRL+V) into the “Address to Forward” box.
  • Click the “Add Forwarder” button.

This completes setting up the forwarder for your G-mail account.

You should send a test message to the old address (i.e. the hosting account e-mail) and afterward check your G-mail account to make certain it was forwarded. If so, you’re golden. If not, retrace your steps to make sure nothing was missed.

NOTE: Adding a forwarder from your hosting account to a G-mail account does not delete the e-mail from the server. It merely copies it.

Will you cover how to set up the gmail account to send a response back as if it was from the original email address? Is that possible?
