How to Choose a Reliable PLR Provider

There are many PLR providers online, but itโ€™s important to find the right provider for your business needs. Look for these traits.

Many Internet marketers use public label rights (PLR) content to create their blog posts, Kindle books, and other information products. Using the content acquired from a PLR provider assists in saving money while providing the marketer with time to build a brand and gain exposure.
But the content is not the same high quality from every PLR provider in the marketplace. Depending on where you buy the content, the quality can vary significantly from poor to high quality.
There are many PLR providers online, but it’s important to find the right provider for your business needs. Proceed with caution because there are individuals selling PLR that care more about the almighty dollar than they do about you.
Reliable, Quality Service
I know you care about your customers and want to give them the very best information you can, so here are a few traits to look for when choosing a reliable PLR provider:
Great Reputation
What do customers say about the PLR provider? You should focus on product reviews and the customer testimonials. You can bet that if the PLR content is great or substandard, someone is bound to talk about it.
If there are no testimonials or product reviews on the provider’s website, ask for input from others in a discussion forum or social media network to learn if anyone has had previous experience with the provider.
Limited Distribution
Most people think Google penalizes you when it finds the same article on your blog as it finds on countless other blogs; however, this is not the case. If this idea were true, article directories would have been treated as forbidden fruit years ago.
According to Google, duplicate content is when content is found on the same blog more than once. Google sees this as a duplication process used to scam their search results, and they don’t take this practice lightly.
However, this is not the reason a provider offers limited distribution of PLR packages. Instead, a PLR provider offers limited distribution packages to assure buyers that there are a limited number of people able to buy – thereby making the content more attractive to buyers.
Selling a limited amount of PLR packages has nothing to do with Google’s idea of duplicate content. Rest assured that if you buy limited distribution packages – you are among an elite few that have exclusive access to quality content.
Free Article Samples
Many PLR providers are confident in the quality of their work that they are willing to provide free copies. Take advantage of the free article samples to learn the quality of their content before you decide to buy from their stock.
PLR Content Writing
Acceptable Writing Habits
There are countless PLR providers where English is not their first language. Don’t settle for secondary writing. Continue searching for a PLR provider that knows proper sentence structure and writes without grammatical errors. Grammar errors are unacceptable.
Even if a PLR provider isn’t a native English-speaking individual, there shouldn’t be grammar errors riddled throughout the writing. With online websites such as Grammarly.com, Anybody can check their writing to be certain it’s free of punctuation and spelling errors.
Superb Customer Service
Find a PLR provider who cares about delivering high-quality content – especially if she outsources the writing to a freelancer. If the provider cares enough about her customers and what they will buy from her, then she should adopt acceptable writing habits along with offering superb customer service.
If a customer has questions or concerns about the content he bought, the seller should be readily available to address those questions and concerns. Make sure there is contact information clearly shown on the PLR website.
Inquire how the provider handles disputes and how long it takes to receive a solution. Are refunds given? If so, how do you exchange the content? (Some providers give refunds, but some do not.)
Weigh each of these elements as you look for a PLR provider. It may take some time before you find a source you can trust, but it will be time well spent. There is an ample amount of PLR resources available online so be sure the person, you choose, delivers what they promise!
What do YOU look for in a provider that I may have forgotten to mention? Leave a comment below and let me know!

    Hi Bonnie
I know a few marketers who have made a great income re-purposing PLR content, and teaching others how to re-purpose it effectively.
PLR content is a great resource for those just getting started, and you’ve shared some great tips to help beginners make the most of PLR content for their blogs/online business.
Like Kevin, it’s my first visit to your blog. ๐Ÿ™‚ Nice to connect with you btw!
Looking forward to reading more of your posts and getting to know you better inside the Facebook group.
    Thanks.

I believe anyone has the capacity of being a product creator; especially if they use PLR to release the project ready for pubic consumption. My idea of a great product recipe is to use PLR, but change it to your voice, so it doesn’t resemble the original PLR.
Only then can you proudly deliver it to your customers. A great recipe is using PLR as part of your product and put it all together in such a way that buyers cannot tell the project started as PLR.
It’s nice to connect with a new face, Kerry. I look forward knowing more about you here, and inside the Facebook tribal group!

    Hi Bonnie,
This is my first time visiting your site! And considering how rare it is to come across a post discussing a topic brand new to me (and PLR is definitely new to me), you better believe I’ll be visiting again so I can learn about more new things. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Hi Kevin,
Even though PLR has been around for more than five years, I am not surprised to hear that it’s a new topic for you. Unless you’ve actually purchased it or know someone else who has (and not brags about how good it is), it’s possible you would never learn about public label rights content.
If you have any specific questions that I could answer for you, don’t hesitate to ask them. If you’re the shy simply use my contact form at http://www.bonniegean.com/contact/ — or if you want, just return to this post and start the questioning. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey Bonnie,
This is a very timely post. I was actually looking into some possible PLR software just to add something extra to my blog.
Just like anything, you get what you pay for and some are very cheap while others are more expensive. Even the more expensive ones are still way cheaper than creating it yourself if you hire someone.
I think PLR is an excellent choice is you don’t have the resources to create your own. I think it works much better if you can find away to add your own personal touch.
    Take care Bonnie

      Hey Steven,
What type of PLR software interests you? Something like WP plugins or possibly other software products outside of WordPress?
My friend, Lynette offers many different types of PLR software that you may find interesting. You might want to check out her PLR website, PluginMill.
It doesn’t matter if a piece of PLR is more expensive than another. A higher price doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting better quality.
Always be careful what you buy and perform meticulous research.

I don’t use PLR often, and actually have quite a bit sat on the hard drive doing nothing… Bought with good intentions!
I’ve not tried Grammarly, it would probably kill me. My run on sentences would overheat it!
Have you tried Hemmingway app – it highlights hard to read sentences and over use of negative voice or adverbs. It doesn’t give suggestions to fix but simply lets you know where the problems are.

      Hey Jan,
I hear this a lot. Too often people buy PLR with the intentions of using PLR, but never get around to it until it’s out of date and useless.
I don’t even want to admit how much PLR I have that, bought years ago, which I should delete. I’m still holding it, but not sure why. LOL
      RE: Grammarly
I couldn’t imagine being without this app, Jan. I truly feel as if my writing has improved since I started using Grammarly. I will continue using it year after year until I am certain I no longer need to check my writing.
      RE: Hemmingway App
I have not tried Hemmingway as it sounds to me like Grammarly does the same thing (only it underlines the boo boos instead of highlighting), and I am happy with the app.
I like how Grammarly underlines the problems, tells you why they are wrong and offers suggestions on how to make proper sentences. One of the other problems it detects is the “passive voice” that I believe is a major problem with all writing – not just PLR.

    Hi Bonnie,
Great post. I use to be in the PLR game for a while, then I stopped because I started putting more and more focus on my blog and less on that. It’s a great industry especially if you have an angle, which I did. And I would seriously consider getting back into it once again.
Anyway, choosing a PLR provider is key. Because PLR was such a hot thing when people first heard of it, so many people started coming out with garbage articles and giving away rights. That’s how PLR started getting a bad name. But if you do your research, you can find some real gems.
And the part about the ghost writer is important. You want someone who won’t make many mistakes and is able to write in different styles.
    Really great post here.

      Hi Andrew,
What happened when you placed more focus on your blog? Were you able to replace the income you lost by giving up PLR?
Having an angle with a PLR business is essential to stand apart from other PLR providers. At least, I think so.
Unfortunately, it’s not just the PLr market that suffers from less than par products. It happens all over the Internet in a multitude of niches.
Thanks for sharing your insight, Andrew. If and when you have time, please share thsi post with others. I would love to hear what others have to say about PLR too.
      Have a nice day!

        Hi Bonnie,
Actually I gave up completely on it for a while and my income went with it. It was just so difficult to maintain that as well as try to blog as well.
On top of that, it was difficult getting the ghostwriters I chose to deliver anything on time. There were instances where they were 3 weeks late on submitting something. Couldn’t deal with that.
Anyway, having an angle is important and I’ll re-evaluate that again and think if it’s something worth trying again or completely scrapping the idea.

          Hi Andrew,
There are places that offer resell content, which would help you gain content for a PLR store that save you the time to write. If you look hard enough, you can find several outlets that offer this type of service on a monthly basis.
If you approach your PLR business in this fashion, it doesn’t impose on your blogging schedule. In fact, you could offer your PLR content from your blog or mailing list too!
Yes, I like the idea of having an angle. I like offering more graphics than written content, but I do offer both. I started offering graphic packs with resell rights too, but I need to beef up that section a little more.
Keep me updated on what your plans are for PLR in the future. I’d love to know how it goes for you!
          Have a great weekend!

Hi Bonnie – First time I’m checking out your blog. You have a lot of great information here!!!
This post is great timing for me. I just recently discovered what this whole PLR thing is all about. Seems like it could be a great time saver to help create content or offers for someone’s blog. At least that was my initial reaction. Given I haven’t come across this in the past, I was a little concerned about the quality and how often people actually use this.
So some great tips here. This is on my ever growing list of things to research, and now I have some reference points to help me through that research. So thank you for that.
    Have a great day Bonnie.

      Hi Craig,
That’s a nice thing for you to say about my blog. There are a ton of free tutorials (video and written) listed under the resource section; when you have a moment, enjoy them.
Yes, PLR is a great time saver, and if more individuals had a chance to use it, they could take credit for being an author instead of being stuck in a rut and unsuccessful.
PLR has many facets of quality; some not so good, but that shouldn’t keep you from conducting research to find the quality goods. You can start with my PLR store, if you wish.
If you have any other questions regarding PLR material, please ask them. I would love to shed some light on a topic that you need clarification on.

    Hi Bonnie,
I haven’t bought PLR information in years now but I use to. I can also vouch for the fact that they are not all the same. I remember one site I purchased some content and the misspellings were horrible. I was surprised by the grammatical errors and kind of shocked that the owner of that site would allow such junk to be sold. Do they not care about their reputation?
I eventually would just purchase some and then rewrite it myself. I mainly was looking for information that I was not as familiar with but then writing it so that it was in my words. That was back in the day but I can’t think of any points you’ve left out.
Definitely do your research or your money will be quickly going down the tubes.
Great tips regarding this topic, thank you so much and I’ll be sure to share this as well. Enjoy your week.

      Hi Adrienne,
RE: Owner allowing the junk for sale.
Yes, there are some PLR sellers that sell junk PLR, nor would you be surprised to learn that many of them never check the content they sell.
You’ve witnessed bad spelling and grammar, which is a telltale sign that nobody read the content before placing it on sale. Sad fact, but something that happens more than it should.
Unfortunately, there are some individuals who care more about the almighty dollar than they do about the customer. I wish this weren’t the case, but it is.
      RE: Rewriting the content.
Anyone buying PLR needs to write it over. Regardless of the quality of that content, whether it’s high-quality or poor… the content doesn’t possess the buyer’s voice and requires it to be redone.
If a person buys PLR because they aren’t familiar with the topic, there is research required to rewrite it. I say this for two reasons, (1) it needs your voice and (2) you need to double check the facts in the PLR article for validity.
Thanks for sharing the content, Adrienne. I appreciate it.

You are absolutely right about not every PLR provider giving the same quality. When I was building my PLR Shoppe I searched high and low for a wonderful ghostwriter, and finally found one.

      Hi Carol,
I realize that some PLR stores offer content written by a ghostwriter, including mine, but it’s also important to find a writer that can mimic your voice too. I should have mentioned this in the article, but failed to touch base on this topic.
I know that some of my customers buy from me because I write in a certain style that is informative, yet engaging. I need to be careful that when I hire a ghostwriter to create content for my store that she also writes exactly how I would speak.
People like my content based on my style of writing. It wouldn’t be fair to deliver content written by a ghostwriter that doesn’t sound as I wrote it. I believe this would make people shop elsewhere. Do you agree?

        Hi, Bonnie!
Absolutely agree! That’s a very important point, Bonnie, you’re right. I definitely have found a ghostwriter that has almost an identical voice to mine in writing, but in my case, that really doesn’t even matter.
Why? Because I’ve never stated on my PLR Shoppe that I’m the writer of the content. I know you’ve put yourself out there as a PLR writer, Graphics designer, etc., but I have not.
I do guarantee well-researched, high quality and well-written PLR, so even thought it’s outsourced content, it’s top notch because I have one of the best ghostwriters around and have paid dearly for it too.
There’s no way I could write for my Shoppe. Well, I guess I could if I made it a priority, but right now in my business, it’s a side line thing.
Thanks for clarifying!! Hope you have a relaxing evening. ๐Ÿ™‚

          Hi Carol,
That’s a good point, Carol. It is definitely something to think about if you intend to develop a new PLR website. Make sure that you tell customers whether you’re the only writer for the website or if you hire outside help.
It’s an important detail to reveal to buyers because this way your customers won’t be taken by surprise. I can definitely distinguish a different voice and your customers can too!
Eventually, (in the near future), I will probably stop writing for my PLR website and concentrate on the graphic end. Though, I will hire other ghostwriters to continue writing the text content for me.
While I love to write, there’s no law that says I must be the content writer – right?
All in all, it’s both a pleasure and a time saver when you can run a PLR store that offers writing from various ghostwriters that all sound like the same voice. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love grammarly for a couple reasons.
    1. I don’t spell well sometimes, not because I don’t know the rules, but because my mind mixes up the rules. Kind of like dyslexia, but not.
    2. Because I can be in a hurry, and just write as the thoughts come out of my head, then go back and notice the underlined or highlited words to check them. It then just gives me the correct spelling options when I scroll over the word!
    3. Okay, I said 2, but remembered this as I typed up something with the comma in the wrong spot. But, it also helps identify where commas and other punctuation should be, which is helpful when editing PLR and my own stuff.

I love Grammarly.com too, Jenn! I found that wonderful app a year ago and I fell in love with it the second I tried it out!
I too, write hurried sometimes and manage to mix up letters even though I know how to spell. I like the idea that Grammarly.com shows me when there is something to correct in my blog posts and comments before I hit the reply or publish button.
It certainly is worth the yearly fee I pay to access the paid version. I generally don’t like to pay monthly fees to access a spell checker, but Grammarly.com is worth much more than I pay to access it.
I’ve been meaning to do a review on it, but I just haven’t gotten around to doing one yet, but sometime this yearโ€ฆ I’ll make it a point to create a tutorial plus a video walk through of it to show others just how much of a genuine tool it really is!
Thanks for stopping by! As always, your comments are a welcome treat for me and I hope you return soon! Please share the post on social media and help me get the word out about PLR!

      Hi Alana,
Many individuals use public label rights (PLR) content and some of them aren’t business bloggers at all.
It may surprise you just how many people use content that was written by others individuals. For example, ghostwriters that write for ebook authors, etc.
I think anyone writing for the web could benefit by using PLR content, and it’s important to tell you that PLR isn’t necessarily always articles or text in general. PLR can also include graphics and videos as well.
