Specifically, which tutorial do you need next?
I love creating tutorials; especially when someone specifically asks to know how to do something. In all honesty, these requests produce my best work!
In January of this year, I asked if there was anything you wanted to learn. I was glad to receive such a great response! With your questions, we forged a list together, which contained the tutorials you needed.
I am pleased that list has grown, yet it doesn’t take long to burn through the requests. I also added a tutorial page so you could track the filled requests.
Now, I’ve taken a second look at the tutorial list and it’s getting smaller and smaller so once again I need to ask for your assistance.
Help me do my best work; suggest what I should write next! You can ask using the comment box below, my contact form, or on the Tutorials page. Whichever method is the most convenient for you is fine.
How to make a chalkboard like my weekly roundup? How did I place social icons at the top of my header file? Can you provide WordPress tutorials for newbies? How do I get traffic and build my list? How do I make video tutorials with the yellow cursor? How do I make a sticky note? How do I add my picture next to my blog comments? How do I add HTML pages outside of WordPress? How do I get “Home” added to my navigation bar? How do I forward g-mail? How do I add pages to my menu? How did you create your video thumbnail?
- How do I promote with articles?
- How do I build community?
- How can I make advertising banners for products/services?
- How do you make your videos?
Here’s a few I can answer right now…
Chalkboard – The chalkboard I use for my weekly roundup was created by following the tutorial from MyInkBlog. Though, you can choose from many others by doing a search on Google for how to create a chalkboard.
Social Icons – The social icons at the top of my header file are positioned there using the “functions.php” of my child theme. I bought the PageLines theme and played around with it enough to suit my needs.
The icons, delivered with the package, didn’t include mail or Pinterest icons so I added them by hand. You may need to hire a graphic designer to do them for your blog.
WordPress Tutorials – Can I add WordPress tutorials for newbies? Yes I can, but which one do you need next? There are several tutorials listed on the Tutorials page, but if you want others, ask below!
List Building – I covered list building in my A Checklist to Build Community and Grow Your Mailing List series. There are quite a few things to learn about list building. Which do you prefer to learn first?
Making Videos – In all honesty, there is no set method for making videos. I make videos the easiest way for me. That’s not to say that you would agree it’s easy for you.
When I want to make a talking head video, I sit in a chair and talk. For screen capturing, I use Camtasia software to capture my mouse movements (shown by a yellow cursor).
When it’s time to edit the video and add an introduction, ending and music, I choose between Camtasia and Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum. I love to fiddle with both programs and I could make a few tutorials if you need them.
Video Thumbnail – The video thumbnail I use for my YouTube videos was created in Photoshop, but in How to Create a Podcast, Part 5, I used the same steps to design podcast covert art with Gimp.
If you follow the same tutorial, you can make a video thumbnail, too! The only difference is the size needed for a high definition (HD) movie.
Create your video thumbnail at 1280 x 720 pixels and you’re golden!
So after all this, I’m left with but a handful of tutorials to create. If this blog is to continue over the years, I’ll need more and more ideas to keep feeding your inquisitive mind.
Use the comment box below and tell me what you would like to learn. I’m forever grateful for your help.
