The New Year is here, and a fresh start to go with it. Do not look back if you did not accomplish everything you set out to do during 2013. Starting today, you have a fresh canvas to paint.
This is a new year – a new beginning. Pick a project and get started. No more excuses and no more procrastination. It’s time for you to shine!
The Word Consistency
Last year, many followers shared the word consistency. This is what they wanted to have in 2014. Are you willing to be consistent this year in your efforts? If you dragged your feet last year, it’s time to use them to move forward.
No more excuses because I am not going to accept them from you! You will not procrastinate. You will set goals and see them through to completion! You have to if you want to make a name for yourself.
Why did you start your business? There had to be a reason, so keep that in mind as you prepare your list of goals for this year. You made a promise to serve people. How do you plan to do that? What needs to be done so people can come to you for help?
Set Fear Aside
I realize you may be scared – we all are at some point, but it’s how you handle the fear that matters. My good friend Tiffany likes to tell people, “Do it afraid.” I listened to her advice last year, and now I do video and podcasting.
I wish the same for you, today. I want you to write down all the things you didn’t do last year because you were afraid, but this year, I want you to DO THEM – do them afraid. The fear will subside over time, and it won’t hold you back any longer.
I was once scared of success if you can believe it, but no more! It’s not bad to get what we want out of life while we help others get what they want. To me, this is a great combination. It’s something to strive for.
Challenges
I have several challenges I want to offer this year, starting with the Article Writing Challenge for this month. In March, I will offer a video blogging challenge, and beyond that – you will need to sign up to my mailing list so you can stay in the loop. 🙂

Very inspirational post Bonnie!
You have come so far this year it is crazy, and I am so pleased to have you as a friend and am looking forward to so many more great things from you this year.
In 2013 I overcame so many fears and I plan to make 2014 my best yet!

This year, I’m going to let my hair down and surprise everybody. 🙂 The journey has started!
I’m right there with you – making 2014 our best year ever!
I don’t feel afraid–just stressed. I need more TIME, but my word for this year is thanksgiving–so I won’t complain!
Why did you pick the word thanksgiving for this year, Tammy?
I plan on continuing to make “my mark” by offering trainings that empower others by revealing tools for them to gain exposure, attract new clients and grow their business. I want them to let their lights shine & live their dreams.
Happy new year my friend.
🙂

Sounds like a wonderful plan for the New Year, Debra! And, I know you can do it!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
It may sound corny but I seldom look back, it’s wasted time. Forward is the only direction my path goes. That’s not to say that I have a clear vision of that path but thanks to you I’m dialing it in. My blogs will excel this year, I’m getting my Kindle books written, and Tiffany will be my mentor in February. I have a determined focus!
It doesn’t sound corny at all and I agree. No sense in looking back at things you didn’t do. Look ahead – on the horizon – and move forward.
Tiffany is my mentor for this month. I can’t wait to hear from her! 🙂
A determined FOCUS is always a good thing to have, Marilyn!
I read this last night Bonnie and I thought it was a fantastic post. You certainly know how to encourage people 😀 Louise x
Thanks Louise! I want to encourage people to do their best – especially if they don’t feel they can do it on their own! I’m here to help anyway I can!
Consistency is definitely one of my words for 2014. I am having a fresh start and doing major cleaning and clearing.
I need to sort out my fear of success to allow me to move forward!
I don’t believe it’s fear, Tamsin. You don’t strike me as the type to be afraid. A little hesitant, maybe, but not afraid. You’ll gain the confidence you need as you “DO” things and learn you aren’t as impaired with the technical side of blogging as you originally thought. Practice makes perfect, darling! 🙂
Well, you got me. The one thing I didn’t do last year that I wish I had was video blogging. I’m glad to see you are offering the challenge in March, and I plan on being there!!! Gotta do it, right?
I am looking forward to helping you with the video blogging challenge. It’s going to be fun, and you’ll be so glad you did it too!
I´m going a step further this year Bonnie. I chose “prosper” as my compass word for the year. It has a lot of “going forward” movement and in researching the concept I found it can be used on yourself and others as well. So if I can bloom and make others bloom at the same time, it´s a win-win situation! 😀
Happy New Year my dear.
PROSPER is a very good word for 2014, and any other year for that matter. 🙂
Yes, a definite win/win for all, Paula! You go girl! Happy New Year!
Hi Bonnie,
What a powerful beginning to the new year post – I can use all the tush kicking I can get 🙂
I declared 2014 the year of taking care of myself. Perhaps a broad plan but it includes business, personal and doing what I believe is best for me. I take care of others – now it’s time to take care of me. In order to take care of me I needed to purge the promises of the last few years that didn’t “take”. It wasn’t easy to forgive myself for not keeping those promises, looking reality in the eye never is.
I’m looking forward to 2014 and kicking my own butt. 🙂
I believe there will be sore buttocks throughout the year. LOL
I have a pair of “big girl boots” and I definitely intend to use them! 🙂
I really like that “Do it Afraid” quote. Tiffany can really help you past that huh? She is good at knowing what she wants and working it until completion.
I first heard this quote from Joyce Meyer (motivational speaker). It has helped me get past many of my ‘what if’ scenarios that plague my thoughts.
Yes Sara, Tiffany is a real GEM in my book. If it hadn’t been for her, I probably still wouldn’t sit in front of a video camera to speak to you. 🙂
I have LOTS to thank her for, and that’s the honest truth!
I’m glad to hear you were able to use the “Do it Afraid” quote to get past the “what if” parts of your thoughts. Happy New Year to you and may this be your best year ever!
Happy New Year Bonnie! This year I plan on getting my book published on Kindle as well as a print-on-demand version. I joined a challenge to make this happen. It certainly did not in 2013.
Like you, I have signed up to work on getting my book published by the end of January! We’re probably doing the same challenge! 🙂
Yes love the powerful message here! Grab our business by the horns and take control, accountability and demand only the best! Awesome message, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for visiting Lina. I know many people need accountability and support and I aim to help them get more of it in 2014! I hope you’ll return often!
Bonnie,
What a great and encouraging article! Isn’t funny how we can be afraid of success? And you’re right, we deserve it and helping others is how we’re blessed. The more we do for others, the more we get in return.
My goal for 2014 is to learn all that I can about WordPress and being a Virtual Assistant. I want to help others develop and grow their own web presence. My goal is to start my own business this year and to call myself “boss.”
I’m looking forward to developing myself and helping others along the way.
You will make a wonderful virtual assistant, Cynthia! I can’t wait to see you shine!
I couldn’t agree more! Fear is a powerful deterrent and a horrible excuse. I’ve tossed fear aside this year and this year will indeed be MY year!
Happy New Year!
Stopping by from the UBC, Facebook. 🙂
Happy New Year Mimi! I wish you success while you work past your fears and “get it done!” I know you can do it! Please keep in touch and let me know how you’re doing!
What FEAR has held you back before?
